2009 Sixth District Chapter of the Year

Greetings to Brothers in Omega and Friends of our Beloved Fraternity,

I extend greetings on behalf of the Iota Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated located in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Iota Iota is a chapter with a rich history of public service and service to the fraternity dating back to its beginnings in April 1944.  The chapter counts amongst its members Brothers that have held appointed or elected positions in various organizations and public office (city, county, and state levels).  Arguably one of the most notable is the late Brother Clarence E. “Baby” Lightner who held the distinct honor of being the first and only African-American Mayor of the capital city of Raleigh, 1973-1975.  Additionally, Iota Iota has a strong service record to Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated with its members serving as elected or appointed leaders for the Sixth District , Omega Life Membership Foundation and the Supreme Council and its committees.   Please take a moment to review the chapter website to understand our past, take note of the present and continue to help us build an even better tomorrow!

As the Basileus, let me thank “God, our Supreme Basileus of the universe” and you my good brothers for this privilege and honor to represent our chapter not only in the Sixth District, but throughout  Omega as we open our arms to hosting the 76th Grand Conclave in July 2010 in Raleigh.   Brothers and Friends, we need all minds and bodies working toward the unifying objective of making this the best attended and positively talked about Grand Conclave ever as we carry the torch of the Mighty Sixth District.

While we are ever mindful of the significance of the Grand Conclave, we are still ever mindful of the larger task of upholding the four cardinal principles of our beloved fraternity: Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift which serve as our guiding light as men of Omega and for the communities in which we raise our families and work.   

Friendship is Essential to the Soul….
